El latín perdido del castellano VI

¡Buen día blogueros! Esta entrada de hoy será la última en esta serie de palabras portuguesas que provienen del latín, pero no están incluidas en el DRAE. Espero que las entradas te han motivado para usar estas voces para que el castellano del siglo XXI pueda competir con el portugués, que parece, por lo menos por ahora, que le tiene cierta ventaja al castellano respecto a su corpus de voces latinas. Vale.

liquescer. (Del lat. liquescere). licuar, licuecer. Verbo que lamentablemente se encuentra como «desusado» por el DRAE. En el CORPUS, está registrado una sola vez, en La Celestina. Tragicomedia de Calisto y Melibea, de Fernando de Rojas (c. 1499-1502):

«Pues mucho más puede tu lengua hacer,

lector, con la obra que aquí te refiero,

que a un corazón más duro que acero,

bien la leyendo, harás licuecer;

harás al que ama, amar no querer;

harás no ser triste, al triste penado;

al que sin aviso, harás avisado;

así que no es tanto las piedras mover».

El latín perdido del castellano IV

fremir. (Del lat. fremere). estremecer, temblar. Fue usado una sola vez en las letras castellanas, por Raimundo de Lantery, un comerciante de Niza, en su Memorias de 1704. Quizá por eso empleó la palabra, pues fremir es un verbo usado en francés. En portugués moderno aún sigue vigente su uso como sinónimo de «temblar». 

«Con que no obstante llamó la junta de médicos y cirujanos y manifestó su designio que aprobaron y lo puso luego por ejecución poniéndole la punta de unas tijeras por la vía por la parte de arriba del miembro, fué cortando hasta que llegó al callo, cuyo partió por medio, rechinando que hacia fremir los dientes y el paciente con mucho valor, luego con una lanceta le quitó el callo, con que vino a quedar el miembro partido por arriba como si fuera una breva, luego puso sus aparejos muy suaves y lo dejó sosegar hasta por la mañana».
